The training stage of the program is the key component of the Digital Skills Training which would run for six weeks in each of the communities where Ghana Tech Lab has partner hubs .Data Science, Mobile App Development(Flutter) and Web Development would be the focus of this cohort. Hubs in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi would offer Data Science. The other hubs would have to choose between Mobile App Development and Web Development in either Agric or Commerce. For this cohort, a total of 36 trainees from each hub would go through the training phase of the Base Innovation Program. During the training phase, there would be certain activities that would take place. These activities, which include the actual training of the trainees in either Data Science, Mobile App Development and Web Development, innovation week, monitoring and evaluation tour and local startup summit, have been expounded in the training manual. As part of the innovation week, trainees would be led to form teams using the team formation component on the student portal. This would be based on a laid down procedure that would be stipulated in this document. The trainees would also be taken through the innovation replication model and later, the design thinking process and pitch day activities, which have been spelt out in this manual. At the end of the training period, the Local Startup Summit would be held where some teams would make it into the incubation stage while the other trainees would be placed under employability/ internship.
